Each registered domain has a minimum of 2 Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain name to the servers of a certain hosting provider. This way, you've got both your website and your e-mails managed by the very same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), nevertheless, there are lots of other records, for instance A and MX. The former reveals which server deals with the website for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, whenever you type a domain name in your browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you may be sent to the servers of a different company provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain. Having independent records for the website and the e-mails means that you could have your website and your e-mails with two different companies if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Website Hosting

If you have a shared website hosting from us, you'll be able to see, set up and change any A or MX record for your domains. Provided that a specific domain has our Name Servers, you'll be able to modify specific records via our Hepsia hosting CP and have your website or e-mails directed to any other company if you would like to use only one of our services. Our advanced tool will enable you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main Internet domain the slightest bit. If you choose to use the e-mail services of another provider and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do it with just a couple of mouse clicks within the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. Also you can set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any one of your domain names or subdomains is very easy if you purchase a semi-dedicated server plan from our company. The accounts are handled through our in-house built Hepsia CP, which features a section devoted to the DNS records of your domain addresses. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you may click on every one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Changing any record is as simple as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even when you have never dealt with such matters before, you will not experience any issues if you want to direct your website or e-mails to some other company while keeping the second service with our company. When necessary, you may also create additional MX records and set a certain priority in accordance with the instructions of the new provider.
